This home is located right on the Nantahala River within The Nantahala Gorge. It is between two mountains keeping the temperature a few degrees cooler here year round, which is a wonderful treat in the summer. Although this location is so unique, it is so easily accessible from local highways and local cities. Making this home ideal for those looking for a large home to stay in rather than a hotel room or otherwise less accommodating space.

When it comes to accommodations, this luxury home checks all of the boxes (and if we haven’t, let us know and we’ll make sure it gets checked!). As Guests of the home themselves, Bryn and Maverick Martin have made sure the home is fully equipped for their family when they show up, so why not offer the same to your family? On top of being equipped, who doesn’t like a hot tub and a game room?

"Our family’s stay at Martin Retreats river house was hands down one of our best vacations. And it was honestly all because of the stunningly beautiful house and it’s location on the Nantahala river. From the elegant splendor of the inside to the peaceful majesty of the river right outside we felt happy with our choice.

No detail was overlooked from the large, thick bath towels to the amazingly comfortable beds and luxurious bathrooms. We also never lacked for things to do. There’s a hot tub and fire pit perfect for s’mores and even a game room. It was exactly as described in the listing and then some. The kitchen was better equipped than my own at home.

There were also several nice restaurants and fun things for the kids to do at the nearest town too. Can’t say enough about this house and we can’t wait to stay there again."

The owners truly thought of every detail while building and furnishing. The beds are incredibly comfortable, and every room has a beautiful view of the nature outside.

Our favorite part of the house was the location on the river. Enjoying a cup of coffee while listening to the rapids of the river mere steps away from us- we couldn’t ask for more! My young kids especially loved seeing the rafters go by all day, and being able to wave to them all.

River Views from Your Bedroom

The Retreat offers 4 King Bedrooms. Each bed has a memory foam mattress with luxury bamboo bedding, gel pillows, and down alternative comforters. Two of the bedrooms are masters with private bathrooms. Each have large walk-in showers and stand alone bathtubs. The two master bedrooms also have 55’ smart tvs. Other two king rooms share a bathroom with a walk-in shower. The 5th bedroom is a bunk room on the terrace level which makes for a great kids room. There is also a bathroom on this level.

Getting Out of the House

Headed far away or staying nearby, there’s plenty to do whether you’re an outdoorsman, looking to see a local attraction, local shopping, or wanting something new to do.

The Nantahala Outdoor Center is just a few minutes down the road. A great spot to spend the day; book a rafting, kayaking, or ducky trip down the river, ziplining, mountain biking, treetop adventure nets for kiddos to enjoy for hours while you sit and enjoy great snack and drinks from Big Wesser pub or Rivers End restaurant. You can also Kayak the Nantahala River right out of the back yard, Check out a brewery in Sylva, Bryson City, Andrews, Murphy, or other nearby towns.

Amenities and Activities at Home

Fall in love with amenities around the home and find yourself vacationing without having to even leave.

Game Room: The gameroom is located in the finished basement downstairs. Here you will find a pool table, shuffleboard, ping pong table, large 85” Smart TV and couches for Video Gaming if you choose to bring your own.

Decks: The deck directly off the kitchen and living space is where you will find the grill and outdoor dining and seating area. This is one of the homeowner’s favorite parts of the home. Sitting out here all day is a treat to watch the kayakers and rafters float down the river. Just sitting and enjoying the sound of the river here is what drew the owners to build a home right here. There is also a lower back deck on the terrace level that is steps away from the river. This is where the hot tub is and how you can access the outdoor firepit and river.
